Year 11 Practice Interview Day

On Thursday 15th October our Year 11 students took part in the school’s annual event of Practice Interview Day.
For this, several employers had given up their time to support our students in developing their interviewing skills and help build their aspirations for the future.  Our students felt this event was particularly beneficial especially with such a crucial life changing time ahead.  They took feedback and considered this to support them with their future endeavours.

We were so fortunate to have a wide range of employers from various fields of work such as West Midlands Police, Royal Bank of Scotland, The British Army, The Navy, Construction, National Health Service, Inspiring our Future, Colleges and School Liaisons from Birmingham Metropolitan College and Joseph Chamberlain, KPMG, MITIE, Local Government, Pilot IMS – training provider,  a School Head Teacher, a Community Governor, Mrs Hathaway and a Chair of Governors Mrs  Dawson.

The feedback from the employers was extremely positive and all agreed that the students they interviewed were respectful and polite. We would like to thank these companies and their representatives and really look forward to welcoming them back to any future event Stockland Green School may hold.

“Really excellent morning.  All children were respectful and polite” – Patricia Colden – Inspiring our Future

“Best organisation of such an event” – Michael Nielsen – Retired Head Teacher/CBT Therapist

“I feel the pupils will have taken away a lot from the session which will indeed support their future goals” – Gurjit Buray – Royal Bank of Scotland

“Outstanding interviews. All students demonstrate dedication to their studies” – Chair of Governors – Sarah Dawson

All employers agreed that the students they interviewed were respectful and polite.

Tally Ho Conference Centre

Meet our new School Nurse Ambassadors Rebecca and Abbie

Read about their new role and how it all come about below:

Today we visited the Tally Ho Conference Centre in Edgbaston.  This was to attend a School Nurse Ambassador training course.

Meeting Jibram our School Nurse
While we were there we worked alongside our School Nurse, Jabran Khan, other School Nurses from across the city and a range of agencies linked to the School Nurse team.  We looked at different ideas that we would hope to bring to Stockland Green to promote the School Nurse Service that is available to all our students.

We will be having regular meetings with Jabran to discuss how we can help students feel comfortable to go and see him for advice and guidance and for any issues or concerns they may have.

We really look forward to our new role.

Rebecca and Abbie

Brookvale Students visit our Technology Department

As part of the Stockland Green transition programme, our friends from Brookvale School visited our Technology faculty to build an Anglo Saxon village

The Year 5 students excelled in both the quality of their constructions and their behaviour and enthusiasm.

The youngsters will be liaising with our Textile teachers later in the term to construct Anglo Saxon costumes.

Mrs Ford from Brookvale Primary said 'The children (and staff!) had a wonderful time in the Product Design department at Stockland Green School.  The children were able to develop their woodwork skills, use equipment and work as teams.  They learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed it',
