Food Bank Hampers

This year Stockland Green School students have excelled themselves in donating food items for Erdington Food Bank. The students and staff have worked very hard in producing quality hampers to help the needy people of Erdington.

We are proud to support the Erdington Food Bank. Christmas is about giving to others. A massive thank you to all for giving and supporting our local community.

Each form produced a hamper and prizes where given to the best hamper in each year group. An overall prize was also awarded to the overall winner. This form produced an outstanding hamper and went beyond the call of duty to create a master piece.

Well done to everyone and thank you.

Merry Christmas.

Let the Music Play

Exciting things happen during the month of December and the one of those was the first rehearsal of Stockland Green's first ever Orchestra.

On the agenda was 'In the Hall of the Mountain King (Alton Towers theme) and for festive fun,

'Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer', this was arranged by our very own Music teacher, Miss Skeldon.

The students have continued with these rehearsals every Wednesday evening after school and are doing extremely well. We are so very proud of their talent.

Stockland Green Ward Advisory Board: 2014 Awards

Congratulations to our very own
Sharon Wootton on winning the
Inspirational Teacher of the Year

at the
2nd Community Awards Celebrations,
on
Friday 28th December 2014.

Cllrs Penny Holbrook, Mick Finnegan and Josh Jones are involved in these awards together with Jack Dromey MP.   The Ward Advisory Board stated that Stockland Green is a vibrant, diverse community with people at the very heart of everything that is done and achieved.  The night was a chance to share the huge generosity and good will that exists and to thank each and everyone for their ongoing support and efforts in Stockland Green.

We are very proud of Sharon who is Head of Year 7 at Stockland Green School and has worked here for over eleven years now.  Sharon is a great support to all students and also runs the Year 7 lunchtime clubs and is famous for making her assemblies fun and exciting.

Sharon has followed in the success of her
sister Linda who also won this award in 2013.

Sharon said ‘I was shocked to be nominated.  I do my best each day but didn’t expect to be nominated by the children.  My award goes to all of the fabulous children I work with.  If I   can inspire, help and be a positive influence in any of their lives, then that is the biggest reward I can ask for’.

We would also like to congratulate Louise Bown, our Head Girl during 2012/2013, who was successfully awarded the Young Volunteer of the Year.  Louise was an A* student and deserved her position as Head Girl.  Louise has worked with the YMCA as a volunteer for a few years now.  She is a Senior Leader for the Holiday Programs and also took part in the ‘Sleep Easy’ project by sleeping on the streets in a cardboard box.  Louise is also the Chair of the local History group.

Well done Louise from all at Stockland Green
